Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)

Print E-mail

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is a condition caused by obstruction of the peripheral arteries. Patients with PAD show an increased risk for cardiovascular events. These events are the most common cause of death among these patients. Early diagnosis and treatment are thus important, and objective measurements such as ankle/toe-brachial index calculations (ABI/TBI), Pulse Volume Recordings (PVR), and transcutaneous oxygen measurements are recommended. (TASC II).
