Monitoring blood perfusion during breast reconstructions

Print E-mail

PeriFlux System 5000 or PeriScan PIM3 System are useful tools for measuring blood perfusion in medical grafts such as breast reconstruction with a DIEP flap. In this application, the microcirculation is measured on the donor site and the value obtained is compared to the blood supply when the graft is moved to the recipient site. The blood perfusion values can also be used to divide the DIEP flap into regions (normally regions 1-4), which can be helpful to reduce the size of the flap.
