Blood perfusion during maxillofacial surgery

Good blood perfusion is essential for a flap or transplant to survive. Skin flaps may be assessed by visual inspection, but it is not as simple with bone flaps/transplants. For this purpose, PeriFlux System 5000 equipped with PROBE 415-310 is a good option. Based on laser Doppler, the blood perfusion in the bone or medulla can be monitored before and after surgery. Even pulsatility or vasomotion can be observed. IThe setup can also assist in determining appropriate cutting regions in bone necrosis.
