To investigate the cerebral blood flow, both blood perfusion monitoring and blood perfusion imaging techniques may be used. For instance, the superficial cortical blood flow in animals can be studied using PeriFlux System 5000 equipped with PROBE 403. For invasive measurements, PROBE 411 is a better option. Furthermore, PeriScan PIM3 System and PeriCam PSI System offers possibilities to measure the microcirculatory blood perfusion in the brain non-invasively by scanning straight through the skull of for example a mouse. This opens up a range of possibilities to examine the distribution of the blood flow during/after for example a stroke.

For middle cerebral artery (MCA) models, please refer to the description under the MCA section.
