Skin Perfusion Pressure (SPP)

Skin Perfusion Pressure (SPP) reflects the local pressure in the microcirculation. It has been successfully employed for amputation level determination, in particular major amputations.

PeriFlux System 5000 in combination with dedicated probes can be used to measure SPP. The probe is positioned underneath a pressure cuff and the return of flow is detected using laser Doppler. Laser Doppler will reflect the blood perfusion in the entire microcirculation including arterioles, venules, shunts and capillaries.
