PeriScan PIM II - Laser Doppler Blood Perfusion Imager
PeriScan PIM II System is a laser Doppler imager for non-invasive imaging of tissue blood perfusion. By scanning the tissue with a low-power laser beam, color images of the blood perfusion in the scanned area are created. The technique can be used to monitor microcirculatory activity in healthy and diseased tissue, and show responses resulting from an applied physiological stimulus. Measurements are non-invasive, and no physical contact with the tissue is necessary.
PeriScan PIM II Systems are used for many different types of applications, both in clinical and in research environments. They are frequently used in various animal models, for example in the study of the angiogenesis process in combination with growth factors. Other areas are burn assessment, plastic surgery, wound healing and dermatology.
For the next generation of blood perfusion imagers, see PeriScan PIM 3 System and PeriCam PSI System.
