Toe/Ankle Pressure is the recommended screening method to diagnose patients with symptoms of PAD (peripheral arterial disease). Toe pressures are of particular importance in patients suffering from arterial calcification (such as diabetics), a condition which often leads to falsely elevated ankle pressures and a subsequent under-diagnosis of disease.
The PeriFlux System 5000 Toe and Ankle Pressure System uses laser Doppler technology to measure systolic toe and ankle blood pressures. Laser Doppler has proven to be a sensitive method for detection, also in the low pressure range, resulting in high-quality diagnosis of PAD.
The system can be configured according to your needs. Choose from a single channel system, measuring one digit at a time, to a multi-channel system, measuring two digits and brachial pressure simultaneously, with automatic calculation of indices (ABI/TBI).
It may be difficult to assess toe pressures in patients with cold, ischemic feet. Therefore many vascular labs routinely warm the feet of their patients using IR lamps, foot baths or other methods. The PeriFlux System 5000 Toe and Ankle Pressure System offers an alternative solution. By extending the system with a PF 5020 Temperature Unit and using a combined heat and laser Doppler probe, it is possible to heat the skin locally at the measurement point to a specific temperature and avoid time-consuming, inexact traditional methods.
The procedure is managed and controlled by our specially developed Perisoft Examination Manager software. Perisoft Examination Manager is more than just a system controller, it is a complete workflow solution.
