PAD affects about 20% of the UK population aged 55-75 <a href=\"#references\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#418fec\" class=\"has-inline-color\">[1]<\/mark> <\/a>\u2014 more than 2 million people. Two-thirds are asymptomatic<a href=\"#ref-1\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#418feced\" class=\"has-inline-color\">[2]<\/mark><\/a>. People are unaware they are ill, but this can be prevented in 85% of cases <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#418feced\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><a href=\"#ref-2\">[3]<\/a><\/mark>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year in the UK, nearly 7,000 people lose a limb because of diabetic foot complications <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#418feced\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><a href=\"#ref-3\">[4][5]<\/a><\/mark>. For many, amputation marks the beginning of a steep decline \u2014 with a five-year mortality rate of 50%, exceeding that of several common cancers <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#418feced\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><a href=\"#ref-5\">[6]<\/a><\/mark>. This is not inevitable. With earlier identification of at-risk tissue, structured clinical workflows, and the right diagnostic technologies \u2014 supported by clear healthcare priorities \u2014 many amputations could be avoided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our instruments offer comprehensive support for early patient assessment, especially for high-risk groups like people with diabetes, who are prone to complications like arterial calcification, chronic wounds, and critical limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basic measurements, like ABI, may be falsely elevated in such patients. The exams are bearable for most patients, preparation is simple, and the tissue being measured isn\u2019t disrupted by the measurement sensor or agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PeriCam PSI assesses perfusion without touching the skin and without injecting contrast agents. The examination is quick and contactless, which can be especially important for patients in pain, with fragile skin, or with existing wounds.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"gn-spacer-block pb-8\">\n    <\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"block-heading relative  \" >\n        <h3 class=\"heading    \">What it means for clinicians<\/h3>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Our instruments leverage laser Doppler technologies and advanced signal processing to deliver consistent measurements over time, facilitating patient follow-up by enabling clinicians to confidently compare pre- and post-treatment measurements to assess therapy effectiveness.&nbsp; Exams are designed for effective patient prep and are aligned with the clinical workflow to minimize the load on clinical staff. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"gn-spacer-block pb-8\">\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with HC21 UK, Perimed is helping to address one of the UK\u2019s most urgent vascular challenges: preventable limb loss.
